Community Geniza Drop-Off Day
Sunday March 26, 2023 – 10 am to 3 pm
Families, Synagogues, & Schools may deliver up to 10 boxes or bags of worn religious
books and ritual objects to be buried in the Gan Zikaron Geniza
The Garden of Remembrance (Gan Zikaron) Memorial Park is honored to provide our local community with a Geniza for burial of Shemot (religious texts and articles), which may include well-worn holy books, Bibles, and scrolls containing God’s name in Hebrew, worn t’fillin, and torn Torah mantles. Prayer books that are lightly used should be donated to a secondhand Jewish bookstore, college Hillel, or emerging Jewish community, not the Garden of Remembrance Geniza. Maintaining a Geniza is a responsibility that the Garden of Remembrance takes great pride in, and we ask that those in our community respect the sacredness of the objects intended for burial by refraining from donating items that do not fall into this sacred category such as Hebrew school workbooks, kippot, Jewish artwork and calendars, audio/visual materials, and computer disks. We are unable to accept any materials that have not been properly sorted prior to drop off.
Follow the signs to the Geniza Drop-Off area at the Memorial Park

The Garden of Remembrance Geniza was generously and thoughtfully dedicated by Ellen and Stewart Share in memory of the 1.5 million children who were killed in the Holocaust.
